Digital Inclusion Project Launch
As part of the Moonee Valley City Council (MVCC) Digital Inclusion Project to deliver community based solutions to social issues faced by low-income individuals, Utility Creative developed an online multilingual web portal which provides residents of the Flemington housing estate access to information about:
- Health care,
- Council services;
- Local activates.
This web portal was developed in unison with community leaders in what is known as a peer development model which follows the principals of the Ottawa Charter. This will ensures that the end user’s experience is relevant, useful and features topics that can help people raise their standard of living by accessing information and learning how to take action on issues that are important to them and can change their lives.
The FlemCom Portal was offically launched today by the Moonee Valley City Council Mayor, Cr. Narelle Sharpe. A crowd gathered at the Flemington Community Centre to acknowledge the work of the FlemCom community leaders and demonstrate the portal to the public. I gave the group and overview of the work we undertook to create the online resource and demonstrated how people can get involved and generate their own content. Training will take place in early 2013 for those wishing to setup a community group page on the portal.
